Bergvliet is a beautiful area in the Western Cape in South Africa. Bergvliet translated from Afrikaans into English means Mountain Streamlet" and is well known amongst the locals as Bergvliet Farm. It was formerly a large farm that was owned by Simon van der Stel. The original Cape Dutch style farmhouse still stands on the property.
There are three schools in the Bergvliet area, Bergvliet High, Bergvliet Primary and Sweet Valley Primary. Bergvliet offers spectacular scenic views. There is lots to see and do in the area with many attractions for all ages.

The Silvermine Nature Reserve stretches from Kalk Bay through to Constantiaberg. It gets its name from the Silvermine River which starts in the reserve and runs down to Clovelly. One of the popular attractions in the area is The Cape Town International Kite Festival is held in Muizenberg, Cape Town. It is an annual festival and is rapidly becoming more and more popular amongst locals and international visitors with well known names getting involved. The Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden began with the creation of a hedgerow of wild almond known as the van Riebeeck's hedge, which was planted as a border to keep the cattle where they belonged. This world-class garden is a must see while in the area.
