The Cape Town suburb of Sunnydale is set on the western side of the Cape Peninsula’s coastline between scenic Hout Bay, Noordhoek, Sun Valley and Kommetjie. Just 30 minutes drive from the city centre, Sunnydale is surrounded by indigenous fynbos vegetation and borders a private nature reserve offering guided tours. Sunnydale is also only 30 minutes from the Cape Point Nature Reserve.
Noordhoek’s Long Beach is close to Sunnydale and is popular for horse riding, surfing and sunbathing, although the cold Atlantic Ocean is not conducive to swimming. There are a number of hiking trails that meander along the beach and through the beautiful Noordhoek wetlands.
Other attractions in the area are mountain biking, golf, seasonal whale watching and crayfishing. Nearby Noordhoek Farm Village has a number of arts and crafts shops as well as restaurants. The fishing village of Hout Bay is a short drive away along the scenic Chapman’s Peak pass with its expansive views of the Atlantic Ocean.
