Klapmuts is a beautiful little town in the Western Cape, well known for the many wine farms that surround it. Klapmuts is also only about 45 minutes away from Cape Town city centre which makes it convenient for visitors. Klapmuts has a tranquil and peaceful feel to it and is a lovely holiday destination for those wanting to get away from the busy city lifestyle.
Attractions:
While visiting in Klapmuts you will be able to visit the Lion Park which is nearby or the Butterfly World which is a lovely way to spend the day, out in the beautiful gardens full of tropical plants and lovely waterfalls with lots of butterflies everywhere. There is also a number of other small animals to see and a petting zoo for the smaller children to enjoy. The Butterfly World is open daily from 9am to 5pm. A very interesting place to visit while in Klapmuts is the Afrikaans Taal Museum which is a beautifully refurbished Georgian-style house built in the 1860's. Here you will get the realistic feel of what it was like in the home of the farmers in those days. There are many exhibits to view from Afrikaans theatre, radio, film and television. Everyone will enjoy this experience from all ages and languages. The Afrikaans Taal Museum is open Mondays to Saturdays. Another interesting and historical place to visit while on holiday in Klapmuts, is the Afrikaans Taal Monument which also has a lovely restaurant with panoramic views.
