Klaarstroom is a picturesque village built at the foot of the Swartberg Mountains. Some say it guards the northern entrance of the spectacular Meiringspoort. The village is situated on the N12 national road between Prince Albert (60 kms to the north) and Oudtshoorn. (60kms to the south)
Lucerne is produced on a grand scale in the Klaarstroom area. The area is abounding with clear streams flowing from their origins in the Swartberg Mountains. In the Klaarstroom village you will find many Victorian-style houses complete with Prince Albert style fagades.
A guesthouse in the Klaarstroom area offers en-suite rooms just 500m off the N12 road. Facilities include hunting and an outdoor pool for those hot summer days. Klaarstroom is ideally suited as a hub because it is right on the doorstep of the link between the Great and the Klein karoo.
You can enjoy exploring the surrounding countryside by car or bicycle, or you can just take a relaxing walk and savour the peaceful tranquility. Because of the cloudless nights and low light pollution Klaarstroom is the ideal place to do some stargazing and you can see quite a lot with just a pair of binoculars.
