The Sterkfontein Caves is a unique discovery in the Limestone Quarries. There are many exciting finds including a complete fossilised skull of an Australophithecus Africanus woman. The caves are fascinating and beautiful. You will not be disappointed. The Hartebeesthoek Radio Astromony Observatory is an education and research centre in Gauteng. It is approximately 50km from Johannesburg which makes it convenient to visit. There are tours for schools and varsities where practicals, projects and researching are done.

Hartebeeshoek is situated in Gauteng which experiences warm to hot summer months with most rainfall as afternoon thunderstorms which are often accompanied by hail. The winter days are sunny but cool and dry with temperatures dropping considerably in the evenings.
