The Umgeni Water Marathon
Hosted by Collegians Harriers and Howick Athletics Club, the Umgeni Water Marathon takes place Sunday 20th March at the beautiful Midmar Dam, situated along KwaZulu Natal's scenic Midlands Meander. The route follows a figure of eight pattern which runs along the edge of the dam for a large stretch of the race, and then moves through sections of the game park along gravel road. The course is relatively flat, with few hills, however less energetic runners are given the opportunity to take part in a choice of shorter events if the 42.2km main run seems a bit to daunting.
Participants are advised to arrive at Midmar Dam early to avoid congestion at the gate.
The 3 events on the day include:
42.2 km Run - starting at 06h00 - minimum age 20 years
32 km Run - starting at 06h00 - minimum age 19 years
15 km Run/Walk- starting at 06h30 - minimum age 15 years
Pre-entry is encouraged.
Entries are also taken from 14h00 to 17h00 on the Saturday before the event at Midmar Dam and at Collegians Harriers Clubhouse, 381 Boshoff St, PMBurg or 04h30 06h00 on Sunday 20 March
