Blouberg Nature Reserve, located just west of Makhado, at the foot of the Blouberg Krans in the Limpopo Province, South Africa, is a captivating natural area known for its diverse landscapes and rich biodiversity. Along with the Cape vultures, you will also find the Lappet-faced Vulture, Hooded Vulture, White-headed Vulture and White-backed Vulture as well as the rare Ruppells Vulture, which is breeding in the Blouberg area. With well over 225 recorded species in the reserve it is well worth the visit for that alone but this bushveld savannah spotted with baobab trees is also home to giraffe, zebra, Cape buffalo, sable antelope and leopard. And it is not only the dry areas, there are also wetlands and small Sycamore fig forest with some wonderful hiking trails.

The reserve is renowned for its excellent birdwatching opportunities, with numerous bird species inhabiting the area. Bird enthusiasts can spot a range of species, including the elusive blue crane and other waterfowl that are drawn to the reserve’s wetlands.
