Seal Breeze Wines - Lutzville, Cape West Coast

Seal Breeze Wines is a boutique winery located in the scenic Lutzville area on the Cape West Coast, Western Cape, where the nearby Atlantic Ocean influences the vineyards, creating a unique climate for winemaking. Known for its mineral-rich soils and ocean breezes, this region produces wines with distinct flavors and freshness, often associated with coastal vineyards. Seal Breeze Wines is celebrated for its small-batch, handcrafted approach to winemaking, focusing on quality over quantity and bringing out the best characteristics of the West Coast terroir.

At the age of 51 without any formal training, Joan Wiggins decided to embark on her wine producing adventure. Nestled on the banks of the Olifants River, just upstream of the Atlantic Ocean, Seal Breeze Wines makes use of its almost perfect location in Lutzville, to produce top quality grapes. A location which has a mild climate, dominated by misty mornings, sunny days and a prevailing south-westerly sea breeze. Only three tons per cultivar is made and all wines are unique and exclusive, handmade, with no help from modern equipment. Along with all the awards Seal Breeze Wines have won, Joan Wiggins has also been awarded the Producer Winemaker of the Year trophy for the Olifants River region in 2006 and 2009.
